Cute New Hairstyles 2013

Cute New Hairstyles 2013

I live in New York City, which is really the Center of the Universe (people in Seattle may think their Fremont neighborhood is the center of the universe but they're wrong), so when I see trends on the streets, in the subways and on the runways of Fashion Week I take note. And sometimes pictures, although people are a little weirded out with random iPhone photographers such as myself so I don't do this as often as I would like.

Consider this slideshow my trend reporting for what's hot in hair in 2013, based on red carpet perusings, magazine readings and the fact that I live in New York City and am an avid people watcher.

Cute New Hairstyles 2013: Vogue named model Karlie Kloss's haircut, pictured here, "The Haircut of the Moment" last year and then the New York Times wrote about it (check it out). It seems this cut -- which falls in that perfect space between the shoulders and the chin -- has everyone going ga-ga because it's so casual and so chic at the same time. It's so very wash and wear, which is trendy because Fabulous people love to talk about how they spend very little time making themselves appear so Fabulous. I know this from reading the blog "Into the Gloss" on a regular basis. Everyone on that blog is Fabulous and everyone talks about how they don't wear makeup and never wash their face or their hair. Yeah. Right.

You may be looking at this cut and thinking, "Huh. It's a bob. On a beautiful person. Therefore it's trendy." And you're right. This cut is a shaggy bob and you can have it too, although I'm warning you, the Karlie won't look so Fabulous on everyone. It could look blah and hum-drum if the rest of you isn't pretty darn Fabulous.

So here's the background on this haircut. Supermodel Kloss got it in early 2013, and it launched her career. It then inspired many copy cats and is so hip I'm creating a slideshow for it, which I'll debut as soon as I finish it (you will find it right here, so I suggest bookmarking this page and setting an alert on your phone to check back on a daily basis) Cute New Hairstyles 2013.

So there's this young woman who married a Prince and all of a sudden everyone in her country started going to their salons and asking for her hairstyle, her haircut and her hair color, which just so happens to be super rich, super shiny and super -- brown.

Of course that's no fairy tale. Brown is the hottest color in the UK right now thanks to Kate Middleton (that's the Duchess of Cambridge to you)). It's also the hottest color in the US at the moment as well, thanks to celebrities such as the always gorgeous Olivia Palermo, pictured here, who makes brown so amazingly lush and Cute New Hairstyles.

You can take any woman with brown hair and do several things with her hair color: darken it a rich espresso brown with subtle caramel highlights, lighten it to a warm brown/blonde combination known as "bronde" or create a gradient layering of ombré coloring keeping the roots dark as the ends gradually shade lighter.

Cute New Hairstyles 2013: Oh how I love this haircut and color. I see platinum hair color on the most fabulous people in New York City and I have to say it takes guts to pull it off. My boyfriend and I like to people watch in the subways and he'll point out someone with platinum hair and ask what I think and as long as the hair color works with the skin tone I'll give the whole she-bang a thumbs up.

New Men Hairstyles 2013

Despite most people's assumption, your hairstyle should be a direct reflection of your lifestyle — not the number of candles on your birthday cake. So, if you picked your own clothes this morning, you've basically picked your haircut. Take a look at the following options. Find the one that most resembles what you wear to work and you'll find your appropriate haircut, along with tips on maintenance, styling, and how much you can expect to pay your barber.

Maintenance: Your hair should look squeaky clean, so use a lightweight shampoo every day. Style with a little bit of pomade, like Redken's Polish Up. And if you're going gray, be sure to pick something opalescent. Anything with color will show on your hair New Men Hairstyles 2013.

Cut: Every three to four weeks, by an absolute professional. Scissors only.

Formal enough to belong in an office, stylish enough to fit in at a pub.

Maintenance: Wash every other day to let your natural oils help weigh your hair down. Something like Shu Uemura's Frame Wax  will give you a little control without looking too shiny.

Cut: Every four to five weeks. There's art in a cut that looks as if you did it at home. Be ready to pay for it.

Carefree-looking layers that actually took all morning.

Maintenance: Wash two or three times a week. (Just don't let anyone touch it on that third day.) Work a little bit of light styling cream, like John Allan's Tough , through your hair for volume and hold.

Cut: Every six to seven weeks. Your barber should be talented enough to layer your hair, but your styling can hide a mediocre haircut.

Simple, for fear of ridicule.

Maintenance: Wash daily, with a dual-purpose soap, like Woody's Meat & Potatoes Bar , that'll also work on your body. If your hair looks puffy, try a gel like L'Oréal Professionnel Homme Strong Hold .

Cut: Every two weeks, at, say, Supercuts. And remember: The less dented your head, the shorter you can go.

New Men Hairstyles 2013: Romney's haircut makes him look like a lot of things: a caberet singer, an enthusiastic Elvis impersonator, a Mormon. But there's one thing it does not make him look like: a politician. Unlike Harry Reid, John Edwards, and anyone on Meet the Press, he doesn't have a low side part. His hair isn't swept across whatever expanse his forehead has turned into. Instead, it's slicked back. There's some gel in there, along with a just a little style. He's trying. And in an industry as dedicated to conformity as it is to pandering, that makes for an icon. His haircut, at least.

The Milano Moda Uomo showcases the newest in ready-to-wear fashion for men. The event also features the up and coming hair fashion trends for men. End of June, the designers showed us men's hairstyles for the spring and summer of 2013, which are all the rage at the Italian fashion metropolis. Why not get a jump start on the cool new hairstyles?

Men's Hairstyles

Milano Moda Uomo (Men's Fashion in Milan) revolves around men, fashion, and style – lots of style! You may like to join us on our excursion to three fashion highlights before getting serious about hairstyles.

In a moving exhibition, the designer duo Dolce & Gabbana paid tribute to their original homes in Sicily. A Sicilian brass band accompanied the fashion show.Instead of professional models, Sicilian youth and men from villages and small towns like Taormina and Messina showed most of the designers’ new collection. The designs included silk shirts and trousers with Sicilian tourist motifs.

New Mens Hairstyles 2013: The British label Burberry Prorsum used the phrase "come rain or come shine" as the motto of their fashion show. Central to the collection was the typical English rainy weather. Part of the designs were shirts, trousers, trench coats, and other outerwear in very bright pink and turquois with metallic shine but also in sage and coppery tones. The colours guaranteed good cheer "come hell or high water" (the other version of the show's motto). For the record: Wearing bright yellow sandals with black socks is officially acceptable after this new collection by Christopher Bailey.

Donatella Versace also features colourful eye-catchers like sleeveless sport jackets and blazers in pink or turquois in the new collection. More dramatic still were the style elements from the boxing arena. The models showed silk robes, silk shorts, and wide champion belt like boxers and sometimes also gladiator sandals. This 2013 fashion truly is for real men and red-blooded fighters.

Hairstyles for Guys

We are looking forward to seeing some of the new men's hairstyles often. This applies particularly to hair, which is layered on the sides and a little longer on the crown of the head. Such styles can be styled to a peak (see hairstyles by Bottega Veneta), twirled up (styles by Jil Sander) or also gelled back (see Salvatore Ferragamo's featured hairstyles). Very appealing are also wild curls if a clever haircut keeps them in shape (see hairstyles by Roccobarocco). These hairstyles celebrate the joy of life. John Varvatos' models wore very sporty short shags with long fringes.

New Mens Hairstyles 2013: By now, you probably can't wait to see some photos of these hairstyles. We aim to please and show you the coolest men's hairstyles in our gallery. Enjoy choosing your own style from the men's hairstyles as seen at the Milano Moda Uomo 2013.

A sparkly hair pin adds an elegant touch to Stone's relaxed updo. Hairstylist Mara Roszak began by prepping hair with Moroccanoil Light Oil Treatment for Fine and Light-Colored Hair to give smoothness and shine. She blew it dry with a large paddle brush and spritzed Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray all over. She parted Stone's hair deep on one side, gathered it at the nape of her neck, twisted it into a knot, then loosened the hair at the crown. She misted on hair spray, along with a bit of Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray for added sheen, before fastening a brooch at the side of the twist.

Try New Hairstyles 2013: Paltrow's sleek knot is gorgeous for a more formal occasion—not to mention the ideal style to show off a pair of statement earrings. While hair is damp, spray it with Kérastase Reflection Chroma Cristal Shine Perfecting Mist, says hairstylist Bridget Brager. After blowing it dry, part hair in the center and smooth it into a low ponytail. Brager recommends slipping hair into a sock-bun tool, like the Sarah Potempa Wrap Up, which winds hair into a perfectly round shape. Secure with bobby pins and finish with hair spray.

Garner's low, romantic bun is perfect for a dinner party—and it's easy to create. Start with a really good blow-dry, misting in a volumizing spray like Phyto Phytovolume Actif Volumizer Spray. Part hair on the side, teasing it at the crown and the back of the head. "It's asymmetrical," hairstylist Ted Gibson says. "Gather hair into a low ponytail, pulling it above the ear on one side but draped over the ear on the other. That makes it modern." Twist the ponytail into a knot, pin it into place with bobby pins, and let a piece fall just so to one side.

Pumped-up roots give Miller's classic ballerina bun an edge. Begin by back-combing a section of hair in the front. Once you have some height, smooth it over with a boar-bristle brush. "It's meant to look soft and airy, not textured," Gibson says. Gather hair into a low ponytail, slicking the sides with a wax, such as Göt2b Defiant Define + Shine Pomade, and tease it before twisting it up and securing it with U-shaped pins. "The bun needs to be thick," Gibson says. "It needs to balance out the volume in the front."

To create this roughed-up low knot for Michael Kors's Fall 2012 show, hairstylist Orlando Pita blow-dried hair straight, then teased the entire head and misted on hair spray. Using his fingers, he raked hair toward the nape of the neck and secured it with an elastic. He twisted the ponytail into a loose knot and pinned it into place, leaving the ends out for an effortlessly chic effect.

Byrne's bump has a retro feel without looking dated. "It's so feminine," says hairstylist Kerrie Urban. "And it has a gorgeous silhouette." Lift dry hair up at the top of the head and spritz roots with a volumizing spray (Bumble and Bumble Styling Lotion is one of our go-tos), she says. Set the spray using a blow-dryer, and back-comb hair about three inches from the hairline. Smooth over with a comb to tame any flyaways and gather hair into a low, loose ponytail. Tease hair for more volume, again smoothing over with a comb (or your fingers), before wrapping it into a bun. Secure the style with U-shaped pins.

We love this style from Chanel's Spring 2013 runway show: It's a simple loop, but an expertly placed accessory adds the perfect amount of embellishment for evening. Hairstylist Sam McKnight prepped hair with Fekkai Coiff Bouffant Lifting and Texturizing Spray Gel, parted it down the middle, and gathered it into three sections at the nape of the neck. He layered the outer pieces over the middle to form a crisscross shape and secured the ponytail with an elastic. He rolled hair into a low-hanging loop, secured with bobby pins, and slid in a pretty pearl-embellished pin.

Try New Hairstyles 2013: This isn't any old French twist: "It has the classic roll in the back but a pompadour feel in the front," Gibson says of McAdams's look. The best part? "Any woman could pull this off, no matter her age," he says. Begin by teasing hair lightly in the front from the hairline to the middle of the head. Set with hair spray or, if you're working with day-old hair, dry shampoo. Sweep hair back to the left side with your hands and roll from the top to the bottom. Secure with U-shaped pins, and let the flyaways fly.

A bit of texture and a few wispy pieces add a youthful appeal to Kruger's swept-up style, Brager says. Flip your head upside down and blow-dry hair straight with a styling cream—we recommend Living Proof No Frizz Nourishing Styling Cream. With your head still flipped over, secure a tight ponytail at the crown. Then, break hair into two sections, wrap one around the base of the ponytail, and pin it into place. Wrap the other around the base in the opposite direction and pin that one into place. Spritz Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray all over and pull down a few delicate pieces near the ears.

Re-creating Adams's woven chignon is much easier that it looks. First, blow-dry hair with a volumizing mousse, such as Pantene Triple Action Volume Mousse, Brager says. Create a center part about two inches deep, tease the crown, and brush hair into a low ponytail using a boar-bristle brush. Once the ponytail is secured with an elastic, separate it into three sections, gently back-combing each one. Weave hair into a loose braid, then roll it up toward the elastic and pin it into place. Gently pull on pieces of the braid to make the crisscross pattern more prominent, and set with hair spray.

Knightley's delicate, garland-like Chanel headband lends an ethereal touch to her tousled updo. But there's a key to keeping things sophisticated: "You don't want this to look too polished," Gibson says. "If your hair is short, muss it up a bit, or if it's long, pin it back into a loose knot and pull out a few pieces around the face." Check Dauphines of New York and Deepa Gurnani (both are available at shopbop.com) for beautifully embellished headbands.

Wen's rumpled ponytail is a fun alternative to a swept-back chignon. Spritz hair with Sachajuan Ocean Mist, Brager says, and blow it dry with a diffuser. Choose your part, and with a one-inch curling iron, loosely curl random pieces of hair to add shape. Gather hair at the nape with an elastic, then wrap a small section from the ponytail around the elastic to conceal it, securing with a bobby pin.

Saldana's take on the ubiquitous ponytail is effortless. To start, Roszak applied John Frieda Frizz-Ease Curl Reviver Styling Mousse to towel-dried hair and blew it dry with a center part. To get easy, textured waves, she broke hair into sections and braided them; once it was completely dry, she took out the braids, misted them with John Frieda Luxurious Volume Anytime Volume Refresher, and teased the crown. Then Roszak wrapped a section on each side of the face to the back of the head, crossing the layers over each other and securing with bobby pins. She continued the process until she had a ponytail shape and finished with a strong-hold hair spray. "Allow the pieces around the face to fall out naturally for a soft, feminine look," she says.

For a flirty—and fast—style, try Beckinsale's voluminous ponytail. Mist hair with a root-lifting spray (Redken Volume Rootful 06 Root Lifting Spray is one of our favorites). Flip your head over and blow-dry with a large round brush. After hair is dry, curl the ends up to the middle with a two-inch curling iron. Tease the roots, then gather hair into a high ponytail. Conceal the elastic by wrapping a section of hair around it and securing with a bobby pin.

Try New Hairstyles 2013: "The top is sleek, but the back is wild," Urban says of Smalls's pulled-back style. "It needs to be dramatic, so this is best for women with long hair." Prep hair with a shine serum, like Kiehl's Stylist Series Silk Groom Serum, and blow it dry. Smooth over with a flatiron (Sedu Icon Styling Iron is a Best of Beauty winner) and create a perfectly straight part. Pull hair into a ponytail and run a strong-hold gel (Urban recommends Sebastian Liquid Steel Hair Gel) over the front for tons of shine. Curl the ponytail using a three-quarter-inch curling iron, such as Helen of Troy Regular 3/4-inch Professional Curling Iron with Ergonomic Handle, then break up the curls with your fingers to rough up the texture.

New Short Hairstyles 2013

New Short Hairstyles 2013

The countdown is on. You probably have an outfit ready for New Year's Eve, but what's your hair game plan for the big night? Updos seem an obvious choice, but not all styles work for every hair length.

Super-short hair can be a little tricky, but as we see in this video from Elle, it's quite simple to sleekly tuck it back without using a million bobby pins. Start by spraying in dry shampoo to create a little texture -- this will keep hair from slipping out. Then pull everything back into a low twist, but leave a little volume on top. Employ an extra-large hair pin, which will firmly anchor the style in place.

New Short Hairstyles 2013: A soft, romantic option for mid-length hair is a faux bob. The key is making it subtly disheveled, which lends a understated sexiness to the style. Find chin-grazing layers around the crown of the head. Leaving those loose, pull the rest of the hair into a low ponytail. Use a bobby pin to tuck and effectively hide the ponytail underneath -- this creates the faux bob. Next, use a 1-inch curling iron to give the front pieces a bit of wave. Tousle hair all over to make sure there are loose strands all around, as well as ensuring the ponytail is still concealed.

New Short Hairstyles 2013: For ladies with long hair, a classic chignon might be an evening standby, but swap in something a little unexpected with a deep-parted side braid. Begin by parting hair to one side, then securing a low-slung ponytail on the opposite side. Split the ponytail in two sections, then braid each one. Add a little glamour by wrapping a sparkly necklace into the two braids. Secure at the bottom. Finish the look by pulling loose layers from the front to cover the hair elastic.

New Hairstyles for Long Hair 2013

New Hairstyles for Long Hair 2013

Long beautiful warm golden blonde hair should not be hidden in a ponytail or under a hat all the time. Bust it out and show it off in loose wavy curls that are the envy of all who see you.
Long wavy golden blonde hair

How to style: New Hairstyles for Long Hair 2013

Blow hair out using a large round brush after applying styling crème for that extra bit of shine and control. Once hair is entirely dry, smooth medium to large sections and wrap them around the barrel of a larger curling iron or clampless curling iron. Smooth cooled curls to keep their shape but soften them up. Spray finished style with a medium hold hairspray to keep it looking soft.

Best hair product: If you plan on blow drying your hair and then a hot curling iron, make sure you use a heat protection product. You don’t want to scorch your hair. First, that smells AWFUL! And second, it will make your hair look trashy eventually by drying it out and making it fuzzy. Try Tigi Catwalk Sleek Mystique Haute Iron Spray.

Best face shape and hair type:
Oval, heart, square, long, some round. Medium density with not too much natural texture will be easiest to style.

Tip: To keep the long locks from looking frayed, when shampooing and conditioning, don’t rub them around on top of your head. Instead, pull the product through the ends after shampooing/conditioning your scalp. If you’re rubbing them around on top of your head, your ends get tangled up and break more creating a lot more damage (and a bigger mess to comb through after you towel dry it!). The same goes for towel drying your hair. Wrap it up like it’s in a turban to wring out the excess water and use a shammy (yes, the same kind of thing they show you on info-mercials drying a car!) to get out as much moisture as possible. Consistent use of these techniques will help preserve the integrity of your hair and it will look a lot healthier!

Great For Work And Play

You can do this style in the morning to look professional then change your outfit and have a completely different look – without doing a thing to your hair! This is a versatile hairstyle that’s not only easy but efficient. Keep your color fresh and ends trimmed for the best effect.
Long hair with side ponytail

How to style:
After hair is dry, curl the mid through ends and secure off to one side of your back neckline using a binder. If you don’t want anyone to see the binder, wrap a small section of hair around it and bobby pin the ends underneath. Complete the style by giving it a quick spray of firm hold hairspray.

Best hair product:
Get some boost in those roots with a powder meant to do the job: Big Sexy’s Powder Play. Sprinkle it in your roots, massage it in (feels really funny at first!), and watch your volume expand!!

Best face shape and hair type:
Oval, heart, square, long, some round. Medium density with not too much natural texture will be easiest to style.

Tip: Clip-in extensions can dramatically change the look of your hair but only take a few minutes to put in with a little practice. Invest in human hair so you can treat it like your own without having to worry about melting it. It will last a lot longer, too!

Long Wavy Highlights

This killer sexy style is show-stopping with the subtle glow of sunny highlights and a few expertly placed lowlights. The loose wavy curls say you don’t have to have everything perfect to BE perfect.
Easy Long hairstyle with highlights

How to style:
Blow it out with a large round brush after spraying in a little texturizing spray if your hair needs a little grit. Wrap random sections of dry hair around the barrel of a large curling iron. Pull on the ends to stretch them out if they’re too tight or bouncy while they’re still hot. Comb through the curls with your fingers once you’re done putting them in to soften them up, then spray with a light hold hairspray. Smooth bangs using the curling iron or flat iron if you need to.

Best hair product:
Invest in a good quality round brush for blowing your hair out. If it’s really cheap or old, the bristles will split and catch on your hair, breaking it and making it look frizzy. Spornette Italian Collection Boar Rounder gets rave reviews from users.

Best face shape and hair type:
If you’ve got the attitude, this one will work with pretty much any face shape and/or texture (as long as you have the time and product!).

Tip: Don’t overdo it on product. Too much can weigh it down or make it look stiff, which completely negates the cool vibe it’s supposed to give off.
Long And Loose Curls

Go all Hollywood and rock this glam hairstyle. Super large loose curls grace the ends and give the overall style volume. It’s soft and shiny and a total hit on the red carpet or anywhere else you choose to be!
Long glam hairstyle with loose curls

How to style:
Blow hair out after adding styling crème and heat protection spray to damp tresses and your favorite root lifting product in the roots. Depending on your natural texture, you may need more (or less) product. Set hair in largest rollers and spray with hairspray, then apply heat if available. Let hair cool on rollers completely before removing. Use a special brush to smooth through curls while wrapping around your fingers to preserve the curl. Set the style using a finishing spray that adds shine and volume, but isn’t too stiff. The best part about having your hair up in rollers is that you can spend all that extra time while they’re cooling getting makeup on and getting dressed. It’s hands free!

Best hair product:
Try an old-school type product for amazing curls – a setting lotion. Try Mizani Setting Lotion for wet-sets or Lotta Body Texturizing Hair Setting Lotion.

Best face shape and hair type:
Oval, heart, round, square or long. Most hair textures, although some textures will get a much better result after a professional blowout.

Tip: Setting lotions aren’t just for old-lady roller sets. They can help hold that curl in for a LONG time but also make them soft and pliable. Don’t shy away because it doesn’t look trendy – it can make your hair look and feel amazing!

Long With A Deep Side Part

Let your hair down and go a little crazy with a deep part and side swept bangs, imperfect curls and lots of rough texture. Dark colors show it off so well!
Easy long and messy curled hairstyle

How to style:
The day after you’ve had straight hair or just let it air dry overnight, toss the ends around a large barrel curling iron. Don’t worry about anything being perfect – you want the opposite! Let the curl fall, then once they’re all in, rough them up by rubbing hair between your palms and separating a bit with your fingers. A working hairspray can make this job really fast and easy. No need for a finishing spray unless you’re trying to tame some fly aways.

Best hair product:
Go with AG’s Fast Forward Dry Shampoo. Just a small spray will eliminate the greasy look and give you a little more life to your hair for the day.

Best face shape and hair type:
Most face shapes and textures can achieve this style, or something close to it!

Tip: If your hair is maybe two or three days old and you’re worried about it looking greasy, use a dry shampoo. You’ll be amazed at how this simple product can change your routine!

Keep’em Long And Loose

A few loose curls in the ends of the perfect chocolate brown hair. A healthy glow and clean ends. Who could resist this style?
Easy long chocolate brown hairstyle

How to style:
Let it air dry if your natural texture is smooth or blow it out if you need the heat to calm the texture down. Wrap the ends around your curling iron for just a second then drop them. Comb through finished (and cooled) curls using your fingers and you’re done!

Best hair product:
Keep it simple with a styling product you can put in when hair is damp, like Paul Mitchell’s Quick Slip. It helps with manageability and shine, giving you a more professionally done look.

Best face shape and hair type:
Oval, some round and square, long, some heart. At least medium density and a little bit of natural texture makes this style easy to do. If you’ve got thicker hair, have it thinned out just a bit or if your hair is fine, keep the length a little shorter to give the appearance of thicker hair.

Tip: Think you’ve got too much natural texture to pull off the smoother styles? Ask your stylist about new products available for natural straightening. You don’t have to grow them out and they aren’t toxic. They are supposed to wear off after 6-8 weeks, but make your hair a lot easier to manage and smooth out while they’re in your hair.
Blow It Out In Style

Say no. I dare you! This hairstyle is so gorgeous but easy, you’ll be doing it almost every day! The deeper blonde color with soft highlights gives it a glow, but you don’t have to be a blonde to rock this one out.
Easy long chocolate brown hairstyle

How to style:
After hair is dry, wrap medium sized sections around the outside of your curling iron. Don’t try to make them all match, just get them in there and let them cool before you try to mess with them. Separate any that look too big or combine a few that look too small – it should be a quick no-brainer. If you have to stop and think about every little thing, you’re trying way too hard! Spray the finished style with a medium hold hairspray.

Best hair product:

Find a good quality curling iron that gets hot enough so you don’t have to hold that hair on there forever! If you have to hold your hair on for a long time, you’re either taking too big of a section to curl or your iron isn’t hot enough. Find a professional grade curling iron that comes with a special handling tool to help keep your fingers safe from harm. The Curl Rod is perfect thanks to its tapered barrel and accompanying 3-fingered glove. (Some hair is practically impossible to curl. If this is you, head to your local super-hero stylist to check out your options. There ARE options for you!)

Best face shape and hair type:
Oval, heart (depending on where you part the front, where you put your bangs, etc), round, square or long. Have to have decent density and your hair needs to be able to retain a curl. Otherwise you’re just having a futile battle with nature. Product and technique can only do so much…

Tip: If your hair isn’t thick enough and you just love the long styles, find a stylist in your area who offers keratin bond extensions. Just a few rows can dramatically increase the length and density of your hair.
Smooth Layers And Bangs

Simple long, smooth layered hair paired with really deeply parted, side swept bangs is the perfect ‘do for this Hollywood girl. Sunny blonde color adds to her bronze look.
Cute long and blonde hairstyle with bangs

How to style:
Blow hair out using a large round brush after tossing in a little smoothing serum. Touch up random wavy or curly hairs if you need to. A light mist of soft finishing hairspray should do the trick to keep it looking polished.

Best hair product:
Try out Fekkai’s Silky Straight Ironless Smooth Finish Serum. Helps protect against humidity, frizz and curls. Gives you more sleek and shiny hair.

Best face shape and hair type:
Any face shape if you make little adjustments with your stylist, as well as any texture/density based on the products you choose.

Tip: Don’t try to blow out then flat iron your hair every single day. Your hair occasionally needs a break from all the heat and spray.
Simple And Sleek

This laid-back style is perfect for those who don’t have issues with pesky humidity or natural texture that won’t quit. Simple, clean lines make her look sweet and approachable.
Hannah Simone with sleek long hairstyle

How to style:
Add in your favorite styling crème or smoothing product then let air dry. Air drying cuts down on the time you have to blow it around, which just saves your hair from more damage. Complete the drying process by using the round brush, then you should be good to go!

Best hair product:
Give Biolage’s line a try – Smoothing Serum Smooththerapie claims to smooth hair cuticles, create a barrier against humidity, and gives you brilliant shine without adding extra weight… Perfect!

New Hairstyles for Long Hair 2013: Oval, heart, some round or square, some long. Hair should have at least a medium density. Naturally smooth is the fastest way to get this style. Tip: Try going an extra day between washing your hair. That extra day should help restore moisture that’s been lost for a long time.

Researchers found about two of every five African-American women said they avoid exercise because of concerns about their hair, and researchers say that is concerning given the United States' obesity epidemic.

"As an African-American woman, I have that problem, and my friends have that problem. So I wondered if my patients had that problem," said Dr. Amy McMichael, the study's senior researcher and a dermatologist at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

New Hairstyles for Women 2013: McMichael and her colleagues, who published their findings in the Archives of Dermatology on Monday, said hair care can be tedious and costly for African-American women.

Rochelle Mosley, who owns Salon 804 in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City, told Reuters Health some of her African-American clients come in once per week to get their hair straightened at a cost of about $40.

They may not want to wash their hair more than once a week to keep their hairstyle, and may avoid sweating because of that.

To find out if women were putting hair above their health, the researchers surveyed 103 African-American women who came to the dermatology clinic at Wake Forest University in October 2007.

They found that more than half of the women were exercising for less than 75 minutes per week, which is less than the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' recommendation of 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise.

That's also less than U.S. women on average, according to a 2007 study from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that found about half of all U.S. women were exercising close to 150 minutes per week.

More than a quarter of the women in the new study said they didn't exercise at all.

About a third of the women said they exercise less than they'd like because of their hair, and half said they have considered changing their hair for exercise.

McMichael and her colleagues found that women who avoided exercise because of their hair were almost three times less likely to meet the recommended physical activity guidelines. That finding, however, could have been due to chance New Hairstyles for Women 2013.

Also, scalp issues, such as itching and dandruff, played a role in the women's decision-making process.

SALON OWNER NOT SURPRISED

McMichael also admits that they only surveyed African-American women, and they can't say whether this is a problem shared by other ethnicities.

"It is a really important conversation that African-American women want to have, and they're looking for solutions," said McMichael.

Salon 804's Mosley told Reuters Health that she's not surprised by the findings based on her 22 years in business.

Previously, studies have connected people who get their hair done and their overall health. Some barbershops and salons even act as health clinics.

New Hairstyles for Women 2013: Mosley added that some women schedule their visits around their exercise schedule, but she also tries to find a hairstyle that will work with physical activity. "If you don't have a healthy body then you aren't going to have any hair to fix," she said.
